19.8.5 Peripheral Camera In Exterior Mirror, Preparing For Calibration
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Calibration Tool - VAS6350-
- Peripheral Camera Calibration Device - VAS6350/6-
The Right Peripheral Camera - R245- and the Left Peripheral Camera - R244- are installed in the lower section of the exterior mirror.
NOTE:
- First perform the calibration requirements. Refer to 19.8.2 Requirements For Calibrating
- The following describes setting up the calibration device for calibrating the Left Peripheral Camera - R244-.
- Setting up the calibration device for calibrating the Right Peripheral Camera - R245- is identical.
NOTE:
- First perform the calibration requirements. Refer to 19.8.2 Requirements For Calibrating
- Set up the - VAS6350/6-. Refer to 19.8.3 Peripheral Camera Calibration Device - VAS6350/6-, Aligning
Setting Up The Calibration Device:
- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Check which hole circle the rims have.
- Install the wheel pick-ups which fit the Touareg: attach the 3 adapters for the wheel bolts to each wheel pick-up.
- Attach the paddle to a -VAS6350/1- and secure it with clamping screw.
- Place the -VAS6350/1- on the wheel bolts on the left front wheel. The Wheel Center Sensors are positioned by the »Orings « in the adapters and held in place.
NOTE:
Attach the wheel pick-ups onto wheel so that any installed »antitheft wheel mounting bolts« are not connected to the wheel pickups.
- Position the -VAS6350/6- -4- next to the vehicle.
- Adjust paddle with aid of clamping screws so that they move freely and easily just above the -VAS6350/6-.
- Remove the rear left wheel bolts.
- Install the -VAS6350/6-5- -2- all the way into the left rear wheel hand-tight and mount the -VAS6350/6-6- together with the line laser -1-.
- Install the -VAS6350/6-6- together with the line laser -1- on the -VAS6350/6-5- -2- so that the outer edge of the guide pin is flush with the outer edge of the laser housing -arrow- and then tighten the clamping lever.
- Turn on the line laser -3-. Line up the laser beam toward the front toward the -VAS6350/1- -2- as in the illustration so that there is one line on the -VAS6350/6-.
- Set up the -VAS6350/6- -4- so that the outer side of the black line on the calibration device is exactly on the laser beam.
- Position the -VAS6350/6- -4- with the outer side of the black line -1- on the calibration device so that it aligns with the hanging paddle on the -VAS6350/1-.
- Bring the -VAS6350/6- into a horizontal position. To do so, twist plastic feet under calibration device so that air bubble in level is located exactly in the center of the indicator -arrow-.
- Measure the heights of the calibration device, dimension -h- from the surface of the calibration device (no the aluminum frame) - floor.
NOTE:
Make sure the distance laser is adjusted correctly -1-.
Enter the height -h- measured during the calibration into the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System in "mm".
Calibrate the peripheral camera in the exterior mirror. Refer to 19.8.6 Peripheral Camera In Exterior Mirror, Calibrating
