WARNING: To avoid accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury, be sure to wait at least 2 minutes, after disabling SIR system, before beginning work on system.
  1. Straighten vehicle's front wheels and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition.
  2. Locate air bag fuse box (near base of steering column) and remove AIR BAG IG fuse.
  3. Remove steering wheel side cap. Disengage Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect driver-side inflator module.
  4. Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage CPA clip and disconnect Yellow connector for passenger-side inflator module.
  5. To activate SIR system, turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Reverse steps 2 through 4 above. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and verify that AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and turns off. If AIR BAG warning light does not function properly, perform SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . See TESTING - DIAGNOSTIC.
