CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove both wiper arms.   AR82.30-D-6952TS
2 Lower one side window of a front door.    
3 Remove inside rearview mirror. Models 907 with code F61 (Inside rearview mirror) or code FR3 (Reversing camera with inside rearview mirror display) AR68.40-D-0001TS
4 Remove multifunction camera. Model 907 with code JA9 (Traffic Sign Assist or code LA1 (high beams assistant) or code JB4 (Active Lane Keeping Assist) or code JW5 (Lane Keeping Assist) AR54.21-D-3000TS
5 Remove rain and light sensor. Model 907 with code HH4 (THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control) or with code JF1 (rain sensor) or with code LA2 (Driving Light Assist) or with code LA3 (Headlamp Assist for roof overhang) AR82.30-D-7801TS
6 Remove trims from both A-pillars.   AR68.30-D-4051TS
7 Remove front overhead control panel.   AR82.20-D-1100TS
8 Disconnect electrical connectors from windshield heater.    
9 Remove electrical wiring harness (2) at top of windshield (1) from cutting area. NOTES The electrical wiring harness (2) may form a loop; remove it from working area before cutting out the windshield (1).
The electrical wiring harness (2) will otherwise be damaged while being cut out.
IMPORTANT Remove tape from electrical wiring harness (2) and carefully pull back electrical wiring harness (2) or slide it under the roof lining.
The number of electric lines differs depending on equipment installed.
 
WARNING Risk of injury  from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass wher cutting out bonded windows Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. AS67.00-Z-0004-01A 
10 Cut out windshield (1) using the windshield removal tool. NOTES Carefully cut out windshield (1). Lift adjacent component parts during the cutting out process and press to one side.
Otherwise adjacent component parts will be damaged.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Windshield removal tool case
IMPORTANT Punch tubular probe for cutting wire through adhesive seam at an easily accessible point.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required to lift out windshield (1).

CLEAN Clean     
11 Remove remaining adhesive material from body flange. IMPORTANT Cut residual adhesive down to approx. 1 mm and remove loose residual adhesive.  
12 Suction off glass splinters and loose debris IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Wet and dry vacuum cleaner
 
13 Clean bonding area at body flange using a cleaner and wipe dry using a dry cloth. NOTES The bonding area must be free of dust and grease.
Otherwise, the adhesive force of the adhesive material will be impaired.
 
INSTALLING Install     
14 Use primer stick to repair body flange.
General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area
In case of damage to the body flange. AH98.00-P-9408-06A
    NOTES If the degree of damage is ≤ 10%, repair with primer stick. If the degree of damage is > 10 %, coat body flange with primer filler.
Otherwise corrosion damage may occur.
IMPORTANT Use only primer fillers and primer sticks approved by Daimler AG:

If degree of damage to body flange is > 10%:

Coat body flange with primer filler.
IMPORTANT Observe the manufacturer's specifications for the curing and processing time of the primer filler.
 
15 Apply primer to the primed surface on the body flange.
General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area

    NOTES Do not apply primer on residual adhesive material.
Otherwise, the adhesive effect will be impaired.
NOTES The primer must flash off for at least 10 min.
Otherwise, the adhesive force of the adhesive material will be impaired.
 
    Repair kit for installing windshields, 1-component adhesive *BR00.45-Z-1180-02A 
16 Install new rubber window spacers (3). IMPORTANT Place new rubber window spacers (3), as shown, at the intended positions on the inside of the windshield (1).  
17 Prepare adhesive cartridge. IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Electric or pneumatic squeeze gun

    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 1
18 Prepare windshield (1) for installation. SPECIAL TOOL Helper required. AR67.10-D-1700-04TS 
    Repair kit for installing windshields, 1-component adhesive *BR00.45-Z-1180-02A 
19 Install windshield (1). IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)
Electric or pneumatic squeeze gun
IMPORTANT Helper required.

    Repair kit for installing windshields, 1-component adhesive *BR00.45-Z-1180-02A 
20 Align electrical wiring harness (2) with top of windshield (1). IMPORTANT Attach tape to electrical wiring harness (2)  
21 Connect electrical connectors of windshield heater.    
22 Install front overhead control panel.   AR82.20-D-1100TS
23 Install trims on both A-pillars.   AR68.30-D-4051TS
24 Install multifunction camera. Model 907 with code JA9 (Traffic Sign Assist or code LA1 (high beams assistant) or code JB4 (Active Lane Keeping Assist) or code JW5 (Lane Keeping Assist) AR54.21-D-3000TS
25 Install rain and light sensor. Model 907 with code HH4 (THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control) or code JF1 (rain sensor) or code LA2 (driving light assistant) or code LA3 (Headlamp Assist for roof overhang) AR82.30-D-7801TS
26 Install inside rearview mirror. Models 907 with code F61 (Inside rearview mirror) or code FR3 (Reversing camera with inside rearview mirror display) AR68.40-D-0001TS
27 Install both wiper arms.   AR82.30-D-6952TS
28 Remove adhesive strips from windshield (1) and body flange. IMPORTANT Observe curing time of the adhesive material (at least. 2 h).  
CLEAN Clean     
29 Clean windshield (1) and vehicle interior.
