Adaptive Cruise Control (Acc), Calibrating, Static
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Setting Device - Basic Set :VAS 6430
- ACC Reflector Mirror :VAS 6430/10
The Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428- will be called the sensor in the information that follows.
Preparing
Conditions
- Refer to Necessity of Calibration .
- If the ACC Reflector Mirror :VAS 6430/10 is repositioned on the calibration beam during the calibration, then the adjustment of the Setting Device Basic Set :VAS 6430 must be checked again (for example bubble levels, individual toe values at the calibration beam, etc.).
- There may be no DTC memory entry present because they prevent the calibration.
-- Check sensor, brackets, and retainers for damage, external influences, and secure fit.
Calibration procedure without previous axle alignment
-- Select the program in the wheel alignment computer.
-- Pay attention to the test requirements for the axle alignment. Refer to TEST REQUIREMENTS .
-- Check if there is enough floor space between the vehicle and the setting device.
Conditions
- The distance between the setting device and the sensor must be 120 cm ± 2.5 cm (47.24 ± 0.98 in.).
- If the available floor space is not sufficient, drive the vehicle onto the wheel alignment platform backward and then use the corresponding floor space.
-- Drive the vehicle straight onto the wheel alignment platform.
-- Bring wheels in the straight position.
-- Install the quick-action clamps on the rear wheels.
-- Install the sensor to the quick-action clamp.
-- Attach the reflector mirror at the center and parallel to the setting device.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Attach the reflector mirror -1- at the center and parallel to the setting device.
-- Position the setting device with the reflector mirror -1- in parallel alignment at a distance of -a- to the sensor.
Conditions
- Dimension -a- = 120 cm ± 2.5 cm (47.24 ± 0.98 in.)
-- Position the front wheel measuring sensors -1- on the calibration beam.
-- Turn the adjusting screws -1, 2 and 3- until the bubble levels -A and B- on the reflector mirror -5- are level.
Vehicles with sensor behind the brand emblem:
-- Adjust the reflector mirror on the side of the calibration beam so that the laser beam strikes the brand emblem in the center.
-- Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - SENSORS AND CONTROL MODULE, GOLF .
Vehicles with sensor behind the bumper cover:
-- Adjust the reflector mirror sideways on the calibration beam, so that the laser beam hits the trim under the brand emblem in the center.
-- Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - SENSORS AND CONTROL MODULE, GOLF .
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Level out the sensor bubble levels.
-- Turn the adjusting screw -4- until the display on the wheel alignment computer is within the tolerance range.
-- Turn the adjusting screws -1, 2 and 3- until the bubble levels -A and B- on the reflector mirror -5- are level.
-- Check if the bubble levels -A and B- are level and the laser beam strikes the center of the trim.
Conditions
- If the laser beam does not hit the trim in the center, readjust the reflector mirror -5-.
Calibrating
Conditions
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester connected.
-- Complete the "adaptive cruise control (ACC) calibration" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRIES .
