Bevel Box, Installing: Notes

NOTE:

Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING  to get a list of the special tools needed.

Install any cable ties that were loosened or cut off during removal at their same location.

Lightly grease the flange shaft splines using Lubricating Grease for Clutch Plate Splines.

Installing 

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Rotate the flange shaft and attach the bevel box with the flange shaft to the transmission at the same time.

NOTE:

Do not pull the bevel box with mounting bolts against the transmission, otherwise bevel box is canted and mounting eyes can break off.

-- Attach the bevel box to the transmission with 4 new bolts. Tightening specification -item  ) OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX - List Item: Bolts.

-- Install the bolts -1 and 2- for securing the bevel box bracket hand-tight.

-- Follow the tightening sequence:

  1. Tighten the bolts -2-.
  2. Tighten the bolts -1-.

-- Fasten the flange shaft with a new bolt. Tightening specification. Refer to -item  ) OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX - List Item: Bolt.

-- Check oil level in bevel box and fill. Refer to GEAR OIL, CHECKING LEVEL .
