19.8.9 Rear Peripheral Camera - R246-, Preparing For Calibration
The Rear Peripheral Camera - R246- is installed in the handle button in the rear lid.
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Calibration Tool - VAS6350-
- Peripheral Camera Calibration Device - VAS6350/6-
- First perform the calibration requirements. Refer to 19.8.2 Requirements For Calibrating
- Set up the - VAS6350/6-. Refer to 19.8.3 Peripheral Camera Calibration Device - VAS6350/6-, Aligning
Setting up the calibration device:
- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Check which hole circle the rims have.
- Install the wheel pick-ups which fit the Touareg: attach the 3 adapters for the wheel bolts to each wheel pick-up.
- Attach paddles to both -VAS6350/1- and secure them with clamping screw.
- Place the -VAS6350/1- onto the wheel bolts on the rear wheels. The Wheel Center Sensors are positioned by the »Orings « in the adapters and held in place.
- Adjust paddle with aid of clamping screws so that they move freely and easily just above the floor.
- Set up the - VAS6350/6-. Refer to 19.8.3 Peripheral Camera Calibration Device - VAS6350/6-, Aligning
- Position the -VAS6350/6- behind the vehicle in the center.
- Bring the -VAS6350/6- into a horizontal position. To do so, twist plastic feet under calibration device so that air bubble in level is located exactly in the center of the indicator -arrow-.
- Switch on the laser on the calibration device -4- and align the entire calibration device so that laser beam strikes on center of vehicle rear end above the VW logo.
- Turn the -VAS6350/2- for the distance measurement on with the [ON]
button. The following display appears and laser switches itself on:
- Hold the spacing laser for measuring the distance -2-, as illustrated, flush in the bracket on one side of the calibration device. The distance laser lie firmly against the bracket.
- Make sure that the laser beam from the distance laser for distance measurement contacts the paddle -1- at the lower, enlarged part.
If this is not the case, paddles must be corrected accordingly via clamping screws on the wheel pick-ups.
- Hold the distance laser for distance measurement firmly by hand in the angled bracket on the calibration device with the laser beam visible on the paddle. Briefly press ON button for distance measurement. When doing this, the following display appears on screen:
The distance measurement is specified on the display in "meters".
- Set up the -VAS6350/6- to dimension 1500 mm (1.5 m).
- Repeat measuring procedure in the same manner for the other rear wheel on the other side of the calibration device.
The distance value must be 1500 mm on both sides. If the value is not identical, align the calibration device only as long until the values on both sides are 1500 mm.
When aligning the calibration device, make sure the line laser beam still strikes the center above the VW emblem and the indicator on the level is still centered. If necessary, make further corrections accordingly.
- Measure the heights of the calibration device, dimension -h- from the surface of the calibration device (not the aluminum frame) - to the floor.
Enter the measured height from the calibration device into the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "mm" during the calibration.
