Selector Lever Cable

NOTE:

Tie a wire or string to the cable before removing it, will make it possible to thread the cable back in when installing.

Removing 

-- Remove the selector mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM .

-- Push the boot -arrow- forward and out from the mounting bracket/cover.

To remove the selector lever cable, the transfer case only needs to be lowered.

-- Lower the transfer case. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the locking washer -1-.

-- Disconnect the selector lever cable -2- from the lever/selector shaft.

Installing 

-- Install the selector lever cable into the mounting bracket/cover -1-.

-- Seat the sleeve -2- so that it makes full contact against the mounting bracket/cover.

-- Install the transfer case. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Carefully press the selector lever cable -2- onto the lever/selector shaft. Do not bend the lever/selector shaft when doing this, otherwise the shifting can no longer be adjusted precisely.

-- Replace the lock washer -1-.

-- Seat the boot -arrow- so that it makes full contact against the mounting bracket/cover.

-- Install the shift mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM .
