Inspection Procedure

Check operation of stop light.
CHECK:

Check that stop light comes ON when brake pedal is depressed, and turns OFF when brake pedal is released.
1. NG: Check stop light system (See BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM/TROUBLESHOOTING ).
2. OK: Go to next step.
Input signal check.
CHECK:
1. See input signal check in PRE-CHECK .
2. Check the indicator light when the brake pedal is depressed.

OK:

The indicator light goes OFF when the brake pedal is depressed.
1. OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptom table (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
2. NG: Go to next step.
Check voltage between terminal STP- of cruise control ECU connector and body ground.
PREPARATION:
1. Remove the ECU with connectors still connected.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.

CHECK:

Measure voltage between terminal STP- of cruise control ECU connector and body ground, when the brake pedal is depressed and released.

OK:
TERMINALS VOLTAGE REFERENCE

Depressed 10 - 14 V

Released Below 1 V
1. OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptom table (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
2. NG: Go to next step.
Check for open in harness and connectors between terminal STP- of cruise control ECU and stop light switch (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).
1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
2. OK: Check and replace cruise control ECU (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).

Depressed	10 - 14 V
Released	Below 1 V
