Inspection Procedure

  1. Input signal check. 

    PREPARATION: 

    See input signal check in PRE-CHECK .

    CHECK: 

    Check the indicator light operation when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL and CANCEL is turned on.

    OK: 

    SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL switch 

    The signals shown in  Fig 1  should be output when each switch is ON. The signal should disappear when the switch is turned OFF. 

    CANCEL switch 

    The indicator light goes off when the cancel switch is turned ON.

    1. OK: Wait and see. 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  2. Check voltage between terminals CCS of cruise control ECU connector and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the ECU with connector still connected.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.

    CHECK: 

    Measure voltage between terminals 18 of ECU connector and body ground, when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL and CANCEL is turned ON.

    SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Switch position Resistance (V)
    Neutral 10 - 16 V
    MAIN Below 1V
    REST/ACC 4.7 - 7.7 V
    SET/COAST 2.6 - 4.2 V
    1. NG: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptom table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).  
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. Check control switch. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove steering wheel center pad.
    2. Disconnect the control switch connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of control switch connector when control switch is operated.

    SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Switch position Resistance (Ω)
    Neutral infin (No continuity)
    MAIN 0 Ω (Continuity)
    RES/ACC 240
    SET/COAST 630
    1. NG: Replace control switch. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. Check harness and connector between cruise control ECU and cruise control switch, cruise control switch and body ground (See  HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS  ). 
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. Input signal check (See Step   1 ). 
    1. OK: Wait and see. 
    2. NG: Check and replace cruise control ECU (See  HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS  ).
