Steering Wheel Removal and Installation: Installation

CAUTION: Step 1) and  2) are prerequisite for installation of steering wheel. If steering wheel has been installed without these steps, contact coil cable assembly will break when steering wheel is turned.
  1. Conduct centering of contact coil cable assembly, see CENTERING OF CONTACT COIL CABLE ASSEMBLY .
  2. Align steering shaft with matchmark (1) of steering shaft and steering wheel and install steering wheel.
  3. Tighten steering wheel nut to specified torque.

    Tightening torque 

    Steering wheel nut (a): 33 N.m (3.4 kg-m, 24.5 lbf-ft)

  4. Connect steering switch connector.
  5. Install driver air bag (inflator) module to steering wheel, see DRIVER AIR BAG (INFLATOR) MODULE INSPECTION .
  6. Connect negative (-) cable at battery.
  7. Enable air bag system, see ENABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
