Generator: Removal and Installation - VQ40DE Models: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery: Removal and Installation .
  2. Partially drain engine coolant. Refer to [CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT ].
  3. Remove engine room cover. Refer to ENGINE ROOM COVER: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  4. Remove front engine undercover.
  5. Remove air duct and resonator assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER EXPLODED VIEW [VQ40DE]
  6. Remove upper radiator hose.
  7. Disconnect coolant reservoir hose from radiator.
    CAUTION: Cap or plug opening(s) to prevent fluid from spilling.
  8. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose.
  9. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to [RADIATOR: EXPLODED VIEW ]
  10. Remove engine cooling fan (Motor driven type). Refer to [ENGINE COOLING FAN: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (MOTOR DRIVEN TYPE) ].
  11. Remove the drive belt. Refer to [DRIVE BELTS: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ]
  12. Remove generator stay, using power tools.
  13. Remove the generator upper bolt, using power tools.
  14. Disconnect the generator harness connectors.
  15. Remove the generator.
