Oil Pressure Check

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING: To avoid danger of being burned, do not touch exhaust system when it is hot. Any service on exhaust system should be performed when it is cool.
NOTE: Prior to checking oil pressure, check the following.
  • Oil level in oil pan

If oil level is too low, add oil up to full level mark (hole) on oil level gauge. See ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE .

  • Oil quality

If oil is discolored or deteriorated, change it. For particular oil to be used. See ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE .

  • Oil leaks

If leak is found, repair it.

  1. With hose connected, detach P/S pump from its bracket. See P/S PUMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove P/S pump bracket. See P/S HOSE/PIPE COMPONENTS .
  3. Remove OCV connector.
CAUTION: After OCV connector installation, check DTC.
When DTC is displayed, be sure to clear DTC. See DTC CLEARANCE .
  4. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector (1).
  5. Remove oil pressure switch (2) from cylinder block.

  9. Start engine and warm engine up to normal operating temperature.
NOTE: Be sure to shift select lever to "P" range, set parking brake and block drive wheels.
  10. Raise engine speed to 4,000 RPM and measure oil pressure.

    Oil pressure specification

    More than 300 - 500 kPa (3.1 - 5.1 kgf/cm 2  , 43.5 - 72.5 psi) at 4,000 RPM  .

  11. With hose connected, detach P/S pump from its bracket. See P/S PUMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Remove P/S pump bracket. See P/S HOSE/PIPE COMPONENTS .
  13. Remove special tool from cylinder block.
  14. Before reinstalling oil pressure switch (2), be sure to wrap its screw threads with sealing tape (1) and tighten switch to specified torque.
NOTE: If sealing tape edge extend beyond screw threads of switch, cut it off to threads width.

    Tightening torque

    Oil pressure switch (a): 13 N.m (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 lbf-ft)
