Ignition Spark Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove engine cover.
    CAUTION: When removing engine cover, be sure to lift up its front end to prevent breakage of engine cover claws.
  2. Remove air cleaner outlet hose.
  3. Remove intake upper manifold, see INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Disconnect all fuel injector connectors from injectors.
    WARNING: Be sure to disconnect injector connectors. Without disconnection of injector connectors, combustible gas may come out from spark plug holes during this test and may get ignited in engine room.
  5. Install intake upper manifold, see INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove spark plug and check it for condition and type, see Spark Plug Inspection .
  7. If check result is OK, connect ignition coil connector (1) to ignition coil assembly (2) and connect spark plug (3) to ignition coil assembly. Ground spark plug.
  8. Crank engine and check if each spark plug sparks.

  9. If any spark plug does not produce sparks, inspect ignition system parts, see Ignition System Check .
