Ignition Spark Test

- Remove engine cover.CAUTION: When removing engine cover, be sure to lift up its front end to prevent breakage of engine cover claws.
- Remove air cleaner outlet hose.
- Remove intake upper manifold, see INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect all fuel injector connectors from injectors.WARNING: Be sure to disconnect injector connectors. Without disconnection of injector connectors, combustible gas may come out from spark plug holes during this test and may get ignited in engine room.
- Install intake upper manifold, see INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove spark plug and check it for condition and type, see Spark Plug Inspection .
- If check result is OK, connect ignition coil connector (1) to ignition coil assembly (2) and connect spark plug (3) to ignition coil assembly. Ground spark plug.
- Crank engine and check if each spark plug sparks.
- If any spark plug does not produce sparks, inspect ignition system parts, see Ignition System Check .
