CONDITION

Power steering pump noise after pump and/or steering rack replacement, or P.S. fluid change.

CAUSE

Incorrect power steering fluid used.

CORRECTION

Please use the power steering fluid shown below.

The listed power steering fluid is available thru a local General Motors Dealer. ASMC does not supply this power steering fluid through the PDC.

NOTE: DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) OF ANY TYPE IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. ATF has friction modifiers designed for the clutches in an automatic transmission. These friction modifiers will make the steering harder to turn especially at slow driving speeds such as parking. Also ATF can cause the power steering pump to whine when the steering wheel is turned with the engine running.
