Reference: REAR SUSPENSION KNUCKLE CHECK
- Install rear knuckle to strut, and connect control rods and trailing rod to knuckle. At this point, temporarily tighten them by hand.
- Tighten strut bracket bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Strut bracket nut a: 90 N.m (9.0 kg-m, 65.0 lb-ft)
- Apply water tight sealant to mating surfaces of brake back plate and rear knuckle.
"A": Water tight sealant 99000-31090
- Install brake back plate and tighten back plate bolts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Back plate bolt (b): 50 N.m (5.0 kg-m, 36.0 lb-ft)
- For ABS equipped vehicle, check to make sure that ABS wheel speed sensor tooth is free from any metal particles and install it to knuckle.
- Connect brake pipe to wheel cylinder and tighten brake pipe flare nut (1) to specified torque and install bleeder plug cap (2) taken off from pipe back to bleeder plug.
Tightening torque
Brake pipe flare nut c: 16 N.m (1.6 kg-m, 12.0 lb-ft)
- Attach brake hose to strut bracket (3) with E-ring (4) securely and ABS wheel speed sensor harness bracket (if equipped).
- Install wheel hub referring to WHEEL HUB WITH WHEEL BEARING AND WHEEL STUD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (2WD MODEL) .
- Install brake drum referring to REAR BRAKE DRUM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Fill reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. Refer to AIR BLEEDING OF BRAKE SYSTEM .

Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to PARKING BRAKE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT .
- Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque.
- Check to ensure that brake drum is free from dragging and proper braking is obtained.
- Lower hoist and bounce vehicle up and down to stabilize suspension.
- Tighten control rod outer bolts and trailing rod rear bolt to specified torque with vehicle weight on suspension. Then check toe.
Tightening torque
Control rod outer bolts and trailing rod rear bolt d: 98 N.m (9.8 kg-m, 71.0 lb-ft)
- Perform BRAKE TEST (FOOT BRAKE AND PARKING BRAKE) .
