Crossmember Assembly Removal
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Remove the wheels. Refer to WHEEL REMOVAL .
- Drain the power steering oil. Refer to P/S PUMP ASSEMBLY REMOVAL .
- Remove the power steering pipe union nuts.
- Remove the interm shaft and the bolt.CAUTION: Before removing the interm shaft and the bolt, please be advised that the steering wheel unit is horizontal, with the spokes pointing down. This is the straight-ahead position. Make a mark on the stub shaft housing that lines up with a mark on the intermediate shaft lower universal joint. This mark will be used for proper alignment during installation.
- Remove the centermember. Refer to Centermember Assembly Removal .
- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST FRONT PIPE REMOVAL .
- Remove the outer tie rod. Refer to OUTER TIE ROD REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the control arm ball joint. Refer to Control Arm Removal .
- Remove the crossmember bolts-to-control arm and nuts-to-longitudinal.
- Remove the crossmember.WARNING: To remove the possibility of personal injury or any kind of damage, be sure to support the crossmember assembly properly by jack stands before removing the crossmember.
- Remove the power steering gear set. Refer to RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY REMOVAL .
- Remove the stabilizer bar. Refer to Stabilizer Bar Removal .
- Remove the control arm from the crossmember assembly. Refer to Control Arm Removal .
