Sir Coil Assembly: Removal

  1. Disable the SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL  . Remove hole cover and knee bolster panel. Remove screws and upper and lower steering column trim covers. Loosen clamp, remove band binding steering column and harness for SIR coil and combination switch assembly.
  2. Disconnect 3 connectors for SIR coil and combination switch. Remove SIR coil and combination switch assembly from steering column.
    NOTE: New SIR coil and combination switch assembly are supplied with SIR coil set and held at center position with a lock pin and seal. Remove lock pin after installing SIR coil and combination switch assembly to steering column.
