Test B: Abs Warning Light Stays On

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Perform DTC retrieval procedure. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If DTC 12 is indicated by ABS warning light or voltmeter, or "NO CODES" is displayed by Tech-1 scan tool, go to step  3 . If no DTCs are indicated or Tech-1 scan tool displays "TURN KEY TO RUN", go to next step. If other than DTC 12 is indicated, go to appropriate DTC testing procedure. See ABS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  2. Turn ignition on. Backprobing, measure voltage between 26-pin ABS control module harness connector terminal No. 10 (Black/White wire) and good body ground point. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Black/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage exists, check for poor terminal contact at terminal No. 10 of 26-pin ABS control module harness connector for corrosion or damage. If harness connector is okay, substitute known-good ABS control module and recheck.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 26-pin ABS control module harness connector and remove ABS fail-safe relay. See Figure . Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, check for short between Pink and Pink/Black wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If ABS warning light does illuminate, go to next step.
  4. With 26-pin ABS control module harness connector disconnected and ABS fail-safe relay removed, disconnect 13-pin instrument cluster (combination meter) harness connector. Measure resistance between 26-pin ABS control module harness connector terminal No. 19 (Red/Blue wire) and good body ground point. See Fig 1 . If measured resistance is infinite, substitute known-good ABS control module and recheck. If measured resistance is not infinite, repair Red/Blue wire for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
