DESCRIPTION
If a car with USA, Australian or Japanese specifications is used in Europe (or vice verse), the voice guidance does not work. This happens due to the language files are missing in the used map disc.
Example: A car with USA navigation system will search for "US English" voice files which are missing in the European map discs, since the European map discs use "British English" voice files.
SERVICE
-M/Y 1999, 2000 and 2001:
- To enable voice guidance for cars using the "wrong" map disks, a minor change of the RTI (road and traffic information) hardware type could be changed in the RTI diagnostic menu.
Instructions how to enter the diagnostic menu will be sent by your local technical helpdesk upon request.
-M/Y 2002-:
It is possible to enable the voice guidance after downloading a Voice control software.
P/N 8691389, will change the voice control to "EU type"
This software enables voice guidance when using the European map DVD.
Car Config parameter = VD04.
P/N 8691390, will change the voice control to "USA type"
This software enables voice guidance when using the USA map DVD.
Car Config parameter = VD06.
If the car has the correct hardware and map discs, but the voice guidance still does not work, please check the following:
- Volume settings in the RTI system menu.
- DIN cables to RTI control unit, CD-changer, TV and radio.
- Check for poor contact, backed out or bent terminals.
