Preliminary Checks
NOTE:
Ignition must be off when connecting or disconnecting ECU. Remove wiring harness connector from ECU prior to testing. Always probe from rear of connector to avoid enlarging connector pin holes.
The following systems and components must be in good condition and operating properly before beginning diagnosis of the fuel injection system.
- Battery connections and specific gravity
- Ignition system
- Emission control system
- Air intake system leakage
- Engine compression pressure
- Fuel supply system pressure and flow
- Fuel and vacuum lines
- Injection system component and sensor electrical connections
- Air filter
- Vacuum line, fuel hose and pipe connections
