Front Wheel Housing, Replacing: Installing: Welding

NOTE:

The straight line weld points must be as far as possible from the outer edge of the weld flange for strength.

-- Fit the new part to the vehicle resting on the Alignment Bracket Set and secure.

-- Check the fit with attachments.

-- Weld the front wheel housing using a straight-line spot weld seam and gas-shielded arc plug weld seam.

-- Drill the suspension strut tower with a commercially available step drill to the dimension -a- using a Alignment Set, VW Jetta 2018> :VAS 801 081  .

-- Drill the suspension strut tower the dimension -b- using the Alignment Set, VW Jetta 2018> :VAS 801 081  .

Dimension -a- = 20 mm

Dimension -b- = 10 mm

-- Install the inner upper wheel housing longitudinal member. Refer to INSTALLING .

-- Install the upper wheel housing longitudinal member. Refer to INSTALLING .

NOTE:

The ABS control module retainer is installed on the right side. The original condition of the bolt for this retainer must be attached at the sane location.
