Rear Side Window, Removing And Installing: Removing

Removal of the side window using the Flush Bonded Window Kit : V.A.G 1474B is described.

The Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows :VAS 6452 can also be used.

-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging component surfaces.

- Tape off the surrounding components in the visible area using commercially available adhesive tape.

-- Push the side window seal to the side while pulling the Window Removal Set - Cutting Cord : VAS 861 001/1A -1- inward through the adhesive sealant using the Flush Bonded Window Kit - Awl : V.A.G 1474/2 -2-.

-- Secure the end of the cutting cord -3- to the Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle : V.A.G 1351/1 -2- to counterhold.

-- Insert the cutting cord -3- in the window glass flange behind the seal using the Flush Bonded Window Kit - Awl : V.A.G 1474/2 -1-.

-- Secure the end of the cutting cord -1- in the vehicle interior at the Window Reel Device : V.A.G 1654A -3-.

Tip

Increased force is necessary in the area near the clips -4-.

-- Cut the side window free using the reel device -3-.

Conditions

While cutting free the clearance to the window glass flange must be created.

-- While cutting free, push the cutting cord -1- against the window glass using a Flush Bonded Window Kit - Wedge (5 pc.) : V.A.G 1474/5 -2-.
