Rain/Light Recognition Sensor, Servicing

Rain/Light Recognition Sensor, Servicing, TRW

Positioning

There are different housings for the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397- from different manufacturers.

As a replacement part, the sensor housing with the optical unit is always delivered in individual parts with clips. Remove these clips if they are not needed.

Procedure 

-- Remove the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397-. Refer to RAIN/LIGHT RECOGNITION SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The sensor electronics may be damaged.

  • When separating the housing components, do not to insert the screwdriver up to the sensor electronics.
  • Do not touch the sensor electronics.

-- Loosen the clip -1- at the four tabs -arrows- using a suitable screwdriver and remove it.

-- Release the retaining tabs -arrows- on both sides and separate the housing upper section -1- with optical unit from the housing lower section -2-.

CAUTION:

The sensor electronics may be damaged.

  • Do not touch the optical unit.

-- Remove the sensor electronics -2- from the old upper section -1- and install the new electronics the exact same way.

-- Assemble the new housing upper section with optical unit and protective cover with the housing lower section.

-- Install the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397-. Refer to RAIN/LIGHT RECOGNITION SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Positioning

-- Remove the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397-. Refer to RAIN/LIGHT RECOGNITION SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Carefully remove the sensor film -2- or remaining sensor film carefully from the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397- -1-.

CAUTION:

The Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397- surface must be completely free of any remaining film.

-- Clean the sensor surfaces with cleaning solution D 009 401 04.

-- Remove the silicone paper -1- from the connecting pad -3-.

-- The clear protective film -2- remains on the connecting pad as an assembly aid.

-- Place the connecting pad -2- centered on the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397- -3- using the transparent protective film -1-.

-- Press the connecting pad -2- through the protective film -1- free of bubbles on the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397- -3-.

-- Remove the protective film -2- from the connecting pad -1-.

-- Install the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor -G397-. Refer to RAIN/LIGHT RECOGNITION SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
