Emergency Release From P
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Connecting Pin :T10027A
Tip
This function is discontinued from MY 2023. For vehicles without an emergency release, the electrical system voltage must be established and the parking lock must be unlocked via the conventional controls.
-- Engage the parking brake.
-- Remove the center console insert. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE INSERT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the insulation mat.
Tip
If the Connecting Pin :T10027A is not installed, the parking lock will be permanently disengaged after pulling the T-bar. The parking lock cannot be engaged mechanically. The parking lock can only be engaged electronically by pressing the "P" button.
Emergency Release, Activating
-- Insert the Connecting Pin :T10027A into the opening -arrow B-.
-- Press the brake pedal.
-- Free up the T-bar -1-.
-- Pull the T-handle -1- all the way upward and hold it in this, pulled up, position.
-- Press the button -2-.
Conditions
- The button -2- stays in the pressed position when releasing the T-bar -1-.
The parking lock is permanently disengaged.
Tip
If the parking lock should be mechanically engaged, the Connecting Pin :T10027A must remain installed.
Emergency Release, Deactivating
-- Press the brake pedal.
-- Pull up the T-bar -1-, until the locking button -2- jumps back into its starting position.
-- Slowly release tension on the T-bar -1-, until the locking mechanism audibly jumps back into its starting position.
The parking lock is engaged.
-- Bring the T-bar -1- into starting position, to do this, guide the rope without loops around the bar -arrow A-.
-- Remove the Locking Pin :T10027A .
-- Insert the insulation mat.
-- Install the center console insert. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE INSERT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the parking brake.
