Front Axle Camber, Adjusting
The front axle camber is not adjustable and it can only be slightly corrected by sliding the subframe.
Slide the subframe only toward left or right, under no circumstances slide it in or against direction of travel!
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -1- through -4- individually one after the other and loosely install a new bolt.
-- Only remove any other bolt, if the previously removed bolt has been replaced by a new bolt already.
Adjusting the camber is limited by the subframe -5- hole tolerances. If the specified value is not reached by moving the subframe -5-, the subframe and the assembly must be checked.
-- By moving the subframe -5-, only the specified value of the camber can be adjusted.
-- Slide the subframe -5- to the side until the camber is even on both sides. Refer to AXLE ALIGNMENT SPECIFIED VALUES .
-- Tighten the bolts -1- through -4-.
After moving the subframe, check the clearance between the steering column universal joint and the opening in the plenum chamber bulkhead.
-- Remove the bolts -1-.
-- Flip the footwell trim panel -2- in -direction of the arrow-.
Condition
- There must be at least 5 mm of free space all around between universal joint and cutout of bulkhead.
