Repair Methods For Partial Replacement

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Audi S3, 2025 Audi RS 3, and 2025 Audi A3 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If a repair is required, all spot-welded bonded joints and certain bonded joints can be replaced with welded joints if no suitable body adhesive is available.

Do not make the repair with only the same weld points and seams as originally used in production, because these alone are not adequate.

The repair methods are shown separately on the following information.

NOTE:

If the instructions call for additional weld points, these should be applied in one step.

Do not place additionally between the original weld points.

Gas-shielded arc plug welding should only be performed after spot-welding.

This prevents any increased shunt current when spot-welding.

Ensure good weld penetration at all connections.

Seal off repaired flanges and apply cavity sealant.
