Shift Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Put the transmission in the "P" position.

-- Remove the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with diesel engines

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate service information .

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with Gasoline Engine

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Remove the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the cable retainer -1- from the selector lever using the Pry Lever :80 - 200  .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Remove the front heat shield. Refer to FRONT HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the insulation mat, if equipped.

Vehicles with a rear center console vent:

-- Remove the air duct for the rear center console vent. Refer to AIR DUCT FOR REAR CENTER CONSOLE VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with gearshift knob

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Detach the nuts -arrows- and remove the selector mechanism -1- downward.

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with Shift by Wire:

-- If equipped, remove the screws -1- and remove the fastener -2-.

-- Remove the cover -1-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
