Front Side Window, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows - Wire :VAS 6452/2 
• Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows - Wire Reel :VAS 6452/1 
• Adjustment Gauge :3371 
• Double Suction Lifter :V.A.G 1344 
• Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle :V.A.G 1351/1 

The following information describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle as an example.

The shape of the side window can vary depending on the model.

-- Unroll the Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows - Wire :VAS 6452/2  -2- from the Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows - Wire Reel :VAS 6452/1  .

-- Place the Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows - Wire :VAS 6452/2  -2- around the front side window -1-.

-- Secure the ends of the wire with the Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle :V.A.G 1351/1  -3-.

-- Use a pull handle to cut the adhesive bead free with sawing motions in the -directions of the arrow-.

-- Remove the front side window -1- using the Double Suction Lifter :V.A.G 1344  .

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Condition

Pay attention to the general information:

• Refer to INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR BONDED WINDOWS .
• Refer to ADHESIVES, GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT APPLICATION .
• Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIMES FOR BONDED WINDOWS .

If a side window is installed which was not destroyed:

-- Refer to UNDAMAGED WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

If a new side window will be installed:

-- Refer to NEW WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

Continuation

-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

-- Apply the window adhesive all around the marked adhesive surface of the front side window.

Dimensions for bead diameter:

• Height 10 mm ± 1 mm
• Width 6.5 mm ± 0.5 mm

-- Check the gap dimensions with Gauge - Gap Adjustment :3371  at the same time pay attention to the .
