Shift Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front center console bracket. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate service information .

-- Remove the selector lever cable -1- from the selector lever using the Pry Lever :80 - 200  .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- for the cable bracket -2-.

-- Remove the tunnel heat shield under the selector mechanism. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

FWD Vehicles

-- To prevent the selector mechanism -1- from falling after removing the four nuts, tighten the front tunnel brace -2- with two bolts -arrows- on the body hand-tight. Then the selector mechanism can be placed on it.

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Remove the insulation mat if equipped from the selector mechanism.

-- Loosen all nuts -arrows- in the vehicle interior and completely remove the three nuts.

-- Hold the selector mechanism with a hand on the emergency release -1- in the installation position and remove the last nut.

-- Carefully remove the selector mechanism from the tunnel brace underneath.

The selector mechanism can now be removed downward.
