Engine And Transmission, Separating, Vehicles With Automatic Transmission: Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and mounted on Engine/Gearbox Jack - Engine Support :T10359A .
-- Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING .
-- Free up the coolant hose.
-- Free up the wiring harness -1 and 2- from the air duct pipe.
-- Loosen the screw-type clamp -4-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the air duct pipe.
-- Press the release buttons on both sides and remove the secondary air injection hose -2-.
Risk of damaging the engine by the timing mechanism skipping.
- Only let the engine turn in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Turn the crankshaft with the Wrench - 21mm : T40263 , Adapter :T40314 and the 24 mm socket -arrow- until the corresponding bolt is accessible.
-- Remove the six torque converter bolts -arrow- by turning the engine 60° further.
-- Secure the Engine/Gearbox Support Shackle :10-222A/12 at the top of the transmission housing.
-- Engage the hook of the Shop Crane :VAS 6100 as shown in the shackle.
-- Raise the transmission with the shop crane and shackle.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and -5 to 8- for the transmission/engine connection.
-- Remove the transmission from the engine, while doing so push the torque converter -1- with for example a screwdriver -2- against the transmission -direction of the arrow-.
-- Secure the torque converter from falling out. Refer to OVERVIEW - TORQUE CONVERTER .
