Faults stored in Engine/Motor Control Module -J623  - may lead technician to incorrect repair of the vehicle.

The following group or more of fault codes must be stored in the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623  -(ECM) Fault Memory in order for this technical bulletin to apply.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Contamination inside the starter motor may cause an intermittent open circuit of the internal contacts.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Final production counter measure pending.

SERVICE

NOTE: When applicable, ensure any one time use part or parts are replaced in accordance with the repair manual information in Elsa.

DO NOT  replace the ECM for this concern. ECM faults P060C and P0606 are stored in the ECM as a result of the starter motor failing to start the vehicle after a start/stop event.

If the above group of faults are stored in the ECM, replace the starter motor, clear the faults, and test drive the vehicle. If no faults return, no further work is required.

If any faults do return, additional diagnosis is needed.
