Front Axle Differential Lock, Installing
When installing, guide and handle the front axle differential lock in a way that the installation position/transport position is kept. When tilting or turning the front axle differential lock oil can leak due to the bleeding, which can later on suggest a leak.
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- Slide the front axle differential lock completely onto the transmission. While doing this, join the flange shaft/front axle differential lock centrally with the differential. If necessary, turn on the flange shaft.
-- With the correct tooth position and central guiding, the front axle differential lock slides all the way up against the transmission.
-- Install any cable ties that were loosened or cut off during removal at their same location.
Do not pull the front axle differential lock with the bolts against the transmission, otherwise the front axle differential lock will tilt and the mounting eyes could break.
-- Screw in the lower bolts -arrows- for the front axle differential lock and tighten them. Tightening specification: : Bolt.
-- Screw in the upper bolts -arrows- for the front axle differential lock and tighten them. Tightening specification: : Bolt.
-- Tighten the flange shaft with a countersunk bolt. Tightening specification: : Bolt.
-- Remove the Engine Support :T50015A .
-- Install the new bolts -1- for the pendulum support on the transmission. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Install the connector -arrow- on the Differential Locks Control Module -J647-.
-- Install the right drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- If equipped, install the heat shield -1- for the drive axle -arrows-. Refer to Drive Axle .
-- Check the front axle differential lock fluid and fill if necessary. Refer to FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Assemble the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER, GOLF FWD or OVERVIEW - MUFFLER, GOLF AWD, T-ROC "R" .
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
