ATF PREHEATER, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the air filter housing with the air duct hose. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery .
-- Pry the selector lever cable -1- off the selector lever -2-, for example, using a wrench.
Vehicles with a 2.0L engine
-- Remove the air duct pipe / charge air cooler. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .
-- Remove the coolant pipe for the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION COOLANT PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Remove the bolts -5- from the cable bracket -4-. Do not remove the lock washer -3-.
-- Do not disconnect the connector -6-.
-- Disengage the gearshift lever cable -1- from the clip -arrow-.
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
To prevent the cable from being damaged when removing and installing the ATF preheater, secure the cable to a suitable place on the body using an object such as a cable tie.
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
Before removing the coolant hoses on the ATF preheater, cover the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow- with a cloth and carefully open.
-- Place a lint-free cloth on the ATF preheater and the transmission to catch escaping coolant.
-- Clamp off the coolant hoses -1- using the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 -arrows-.
-- Remove the coolant hoses -1- from the ATF preheater -2-.
-- Seal the coolant hoses and connections with suitable plugs taken from the Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122 .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the ATF preheater with O-rings -1-.
-- If the ATF preheater is replaced, replace the clip for the selector lever cable -2-.
