ATF, Draining And Filling

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Requirements

-- If filling the ATF, only use ATF that is available as a replacement part. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and identify the vehicle in Guided Functions  .

-- Select check ATF level  .

NOTE:

Let the transmission cool down if the fluid temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).

-- Engine off - do not start!

-- Remove the ATF check plug -arrow-.

-- Remove the overflow pipe -1- through the check hole.

-- Let the ATF drain.

-- Install the overflow pipe.

-- Attach the :VAS6262A  to the fluid bottle. Pay attention to the instructions while doing so. Refer to Note the following information: .

-- Install the :VAS6262/2  hand-tight in the ATF check hole.

-- Shake bottles well before opening so that the settled components at the bottom of the bottle are mixed sufficiently with the oil.

-- Fill with three liters of ATF. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- To change containers, close the shut-off valve or hold the :VAS6262A  higher than the transmission.

-- Remove the :VAS6262/2  from the ATF pan and tighten the ATF check plug hand-tight.

-- Move the selector lever into "P" position.

-- Start the engine.

-- With the brake pedal pressed, move the selector lever through all the different positions "P, R, N, D and S" at idle speed, holding it at each position for approximately 10 seconds.

-- Move the selector lever into "P" position.

-- Check the ATF level. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
