Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Removing
During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
-- Remove the connector -1- from the bracket, disconnect it and free up the wires.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- for the catalytic converter -2- and push the clamp on the turbocharger.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the center underbody trim panels. Refer to UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the retainer -arrows- for the heat shield -1-.
-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -2- and slide it toward the rear.
-- Slightly lower the front muffler -3- and remove the heat shield -1-.
-- Push the clamping sleeve -2- back on both exhaust pipes.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the heat shield -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -A and B- on the bevel box and remove the heat shield -1-.
-- Mark the position of the driveshaft to the flange on the bevel box.
-- To loosen or tighten, counterhold the driveshaft on the rear final drive.
-- Remove the driveshaft on the front bevel box -arrows-.
-- Remove the pendulum support. Refer to PENDULUM SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- When removing and installing the puller always pay attention that the bushing -arrow- is not damaged.
-- Position the Engine Support: T10533 as shown and tighten the bolts hand-tight.
-- Push the engine with the Engine Support: T10533 as far forward as possible.
- Bolt -3- = pendulum support original bolt
- Install a M8 x 30 mm bolt -1- with a washer -2- in the threaded hole of the noise insulation.
- -A- flat side
- -B- high side
-- Remove the driveshaft from the bevel box and place it to the left.
-- Tape off or cover the driveshaft in the front area with a cleaning cloth to prevent damage to the surface protection.
-- Remove the nuts -2-.
Danger of causing damage to the decoupling element!
Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10°. Do not damage the wire mesh on the decoupling element.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -arrow- and push it toward the rear. Have a second technician hold the exhaust pipe firmly while doing so.
-- Guide out the catalytic converter with the front exhaust pipe.
