Expansion Valve, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Coat the new seals -1- with refrigerant oil before installing.

-- Push the new seal -1- on the connecting tubes -2-.

-- Check the refrigerant lines for debris and damage, if necessary, clean or replace the component. Refer to Parts Information.

-- Push the refrigerant line -2- by hand in the expansion valve.

-- Install the bolt -1- by hand.

-- Tighten the bolt -1-.

NOTE:

Ignore items -1 and 3- and -4-.

A missing or incorrectly installed heat shield insulation -2- can reduce the output of the A/C system (change of the adjusted control characteristic due to radiant heat).

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the A/C compressor if the refrigerant circuit is empty.

- Never start the engine with the refrigerant circuit empty.

Vehicles with Refrigerant R134a

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Working with A/C Service Station .

-- Perform the leak test on the refrigerant circuit line connections that were closed again. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit, Detecting Leaks .

Vehicles with Refrigerant R1234yf

-- Charge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING .

-- Perform the leak test on the closed line connections of the refrigerant circuit. Refer to LEAKS, FINDING .

-- Start the A/C system after charging the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING AFTER CHARGING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
