Before attaching the transmission to the engine and transmission holder, note the following:

>>High forces<< are introduced to the transmission, when the fifth and sixth gears are installed.

To prevent damage during this process, the input shaft and the clutch housing in the area of the input shaft must be supported against these forces.

For this, the clutch release mechanism is always removed beforehand, so that the shafts are accessible for support.

-- Remove the clutch release lever with the release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to Fig 8.

Depending on the transmission production date and the version of the transmission, the >>support bridges<< are mounted at different holes of the Transmission Support: VW353  and the transmission.

Supporting the Shafts, First Example 

Input Shaft:

A - Transmission Support: VW353 

B - Bracket - Multiple Use: 30-211A 

C - Bearing Installer - Multiple Use: 32-111 

D - Assembly Tool Kit - Press Piece 2: T10030/4 

Clutch Housing in the Area of the Area of the Output Shaft:

E - Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW433 

F - Rear Wheel Bearing Kit - Piece: 3253/7 

G - Support Bridge: T10323 

• Force to the input shaft may only be applied when mounting the fifth and sixth gears, using the Bearing Installer - Multiple Use: 32-111  .

• Force to the input shaft may only be applied when mounting the fifth and sixth gears, using the Bearing Installer - Multiple Use: 32-111  .

If the gears of the fifth or sixth are not removed and installed, then the transmission can be mounted to the Transmission Support: VW353  without >>support bridges<<.
