Front Axle Differential Lock, Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Socket and Extended Bit: T10107 A
- Engine Support: T50015A
- Engine Support - Bracket: T10533/2
- Engine Support - Bolt: T10533/4
Removing
-- Lift the vehicle, all four mounts from lifting platform at the same height.
-- Move the selector lever to >>P<<.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the drive axle heat shield -1- -arrows-. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the right drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Incorrect handling can damage the coupling.
- Do not bend the coupling more than 10°.
- Do not load the coupling.
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe from the engine and tie up. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L) .
-- Release and disconnect the connector -arrow- from the Differential Locks Control Module -J647-.
-- Release and disconnect the connector -arrow- from the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-.
-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -1- from the transmission.
-- Press the pendulum support to the side.
-- Bolt down the Bracket: T10533/2 -A- with the Engine Support: T50015 -B-. To do this, use an M8 x 30 bolt -1-.
-- Tighten the Bracket -A- to the Bolt: T10533/4 -C- on the transmission.
-- Tighten the Engine Support -B- using an M8 bolt.
-- Tighten the bolts hand-tight.
-- Push the engine forward as far as possible using the Engine Support: T50015A .
-- Make sure the coolant hoses are not clamped between the engine and the radiator.
-- Install two bolts into the flange and counterhold the flange shaft with a tire iron to remove the right flange shaft bolt with a Socket.
Replace the countersunk bolt after removing.
-- Remove the upper bolts -arrows- that attach the front axle differential lock to the transmission.
-- Remove the lower bolts -arrows- that attach the front axle differential lock to the transmission.
-- Carefully push the front axle differential lock off the transmission and remove it.
- Protect the connector -arrow- from damage.
