Front Motor, Removing

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Lifting Device (ID.4): VAS 501 021
- Engine Bung Set: VAS 6122
- Shop Crane: VAS 6100
The Three-Phase Current Drive 2 -VX97- with the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics 2 -JX4- will be called motor in the information that follows.
Removing
Condition
- After the drive axles have been removed, the drive axle flange must be sealed off with plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS 6122 .
- Make sure no transmission fluid is leaking.
-- Remove the subframe with the motor. Refer to SUBFRAME WITH MOTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Insert the bracket -A- from the Lifting Device (ID.4): VAS 501 021 in the holes -B arrows-.
-- Install the bolt -1- all the way in the hole -arrow C- hand-tight.
-- Secure the shackle -2- in the center hole.
-- Engage the Shop Crane: VAS 6100 in the shackle -arrow-.
-- Support the motor -1- with the shop crane.
-- Remove the bolts -2-, -3- and -4-.
-- Lift the motor -1- with the shop crane.
