Emergency Release From P
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Connecting Pin: T10027A
-- Remove the center console insert from the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE INSERT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the insulation mat if equipped from the selector mechanism.
If the Connecting Pin: T10027A is not installed, the parking lock will be permanently disengaged after pulling the T-bar. Then it cannot be re-engaged mechanically. It is then only possible to engage the parking lock electronically (pressing the P button).
Emergency Release, Activating
-- Insert the Connecting Pin: T10027A into the opening -arrow A-.
-- Depress the brake.
-- Free up the T-bar -1- all the way upward and hold it in this position.
-- Press the locking button -2- downward. The button must stay in the pressed position when releasing the T-bar.
The parking lock is now permanently disengaged.
If the parking lock should be mechanically re-engaged, the Connecting Pin: T10027A must remain installed.
Emergency Release, Deactivating
-- Depress the brake.
-- Pull the T-handle -1- upward until the locking button -2- springs back into the upper position.
-- Slowly release the T-handle. The lock will audibly return to its starting position at the same time.
The parking lock is re-engaged.
-- Bring the T-bar -1- back into the starting position. The cable is then positioned around the ridge -arrow-.
-- Remove the Connecting Pin: T10027A .
Further installation is performed in reverse order of the removal.
