Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Digital Thermometer: VAS 6519
- Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500
- Not illustrated: Torque Wrench, 6-50 Nm: VAG 1331A
- Commercially Available Hose approximately 1.50 m (.06 in) Outer Diameter 15 mm (.59 in)
- Commercially Available Funnel
- Acid-Resistant Safety Gloves
Test Requirements
- Observe the safety information.
- Use a Digital Thermometer: VAS 6519 to measure the oil temperature.
- The oil temperature must be 20 to 40 °C (68 to 104 F).
- The vehicle must be level.
- Front axle differential lock must be in installed position to check oil level.
Check the oil level.
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500 under the front axle differential lock.
-- Remove the oil filler plug -arrow-.
Always replace oil filler plug after removing.
- The oil level is correct when the front axle differential lock is filled up to the lower edge of the oil fill hole.
-- Install a new oil filler plug -arrow- and tighten it to the tightening specification.
-- Add oil if the oil level is not correct. Refer to FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .
