Overview - Heater And A/C Unit, CLIMATRONIC

The following information refers to LHD vehicles. Information for RHD vehicles is the same.

NOTE:

There are different versions and manufacturers of the heater and A/C units. Individual components of the different heater and A/C units are similar but not the same. Interchanging components from different manufacturers is not permitted. Refer to the Parts Information.

A heater and A/C unit manufactured by "Valeo" is shown in the following illustrations. Refer to IDENTIFICATION for distinguishing characteristics between manufacturers.

    • For operating the defroster and air distribution door
  2. Air Distribution Door Motor

    • 1 Nm
    • Quantity: 2

  6. Temperature Control Door Motor
  7. Operating Lever
    • For warm air door
  8. Heater and A/C Unit
    • The heater and the heater and A/C unit have many components that are the same
    • There are different versions. Refer to IDENTIFICATION .
    • Interchanging components is not permitted.
    • The following illustrations show the heater manufactured by "Valeo"
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

  1. Heater and A/C Unit
  2. Operating Lever
    • For defroster door
  3. Bolt
    • 1 Nm
    • Quantity: 2
  4. Defroster Door Motor -V107-
    • With the Defroster Door Motor Position Sensor -G135-
    • Only for vehicles with Climatronic.
    • To check, use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding"  function. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Defroster Door Motor .
  5. Right Temperature Control Door Motor -V159-
  6. Bolt
    • 1 Nm
    • Quantity: 2
  7. Operating Lever
    • For warm air door

Overview - Heater and A/C Unit, Heater Core and Auxiliary Heater Heating Element

The illustration shows Valeo heater and LHD.

NOTE:

For A/C systems with refrigerant R1234yf, the desiccant bag/dryer cartridge must be replaced each time the refrigerant circuit is opened. Refer to COMPONENTS, REPLACING .

Under certain conditions, the desiccant bag no longer needs to be replaced each time the refrigerant circuit is opened on A/C systems with refrigerant R134a. Refer to the appropriate service information .

    • For sealing/insulating
    • Note the installation position

    • For coolant pipes

  13. Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- with Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-
    • Not Installed
  14. Bolt

  15. Wire
    • For the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- with Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-
  16. Ground Wire
    • Nut 9 ± 1 Nm
    • For the auxiliary heater
  17. Bolt

  18. Screw-Type Clamp
