Bonded Rubber Bushing In SUBFRAME, Visually Inspecting For Damage
Only applies to hot climate countries. Refer to HOT CLIMATE COUNTRIES .
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Mirror
-- "Lower" Engine Compartment Cover (Noise Insulation), Removing and Installing. Refer to "Lower" ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER (NOISE INSULATION), REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Check the bonded rubber bushing -1- in the subframe -2- from below and above (using a mirror) for the following damage:
- Large cracks, tears or cuts in the ridged area of the round bearing.
- Complete tear of the connection between rubber molded part and metal.
Rips and tears that are only on the surface such as small detachments between the rubber molded part and metal do not influence the function of the elastokinematic bearing and are not cause for concern.
A damaged thin rubber skin in cavity depending on the design is permissible.
If the bonded rubber bushings are damaged to the extent that they must be replaced, the transmission mount must also be replaced at the same time. Refer to OVERVIEW - ASSEMBLY MOUNTS .
