Transmission Fluid Cooler, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Move the selector lever to "P".

CAUTION:

The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Burns to skin and other parts of the body are possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully open.

-- Remove the residual pressure in the cooling system: cover the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow- with a cloth and carefully open.

-- Close the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow- again until it engages.

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the battery and the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place a lint-free cloth on to transmission fluid cooler and transmission to absorb escaping coolant.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows-, then clamp off the coolant hoses to the transmission fluid cooler using Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094  and remove them.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with suitable plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS 6122  .

CAUTION:

Coolant must not drip into transmission!

-- Cover the transmission with cloths to catch any escaping coolant.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the transmission fluid cooler -A-.
