Transmission Fluid Pan, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Move the selector lever to "P".

Always make sure that no dirt can get into an >>open<< transmission.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the transmission.

  • Do not run the engine or tow the vehicle with the transmission fluid pan removed or without transmission fluid.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

Vehicles with Gasoline Engine:

-- Remove the connecting hose between the charge air cooler and the charge air pipe. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .

Continuation for All:

-- Remove the wire and bracket from the front oil pan -arrows-.

-- Route the wires near the transmission fluid pan upward and tie them secure.

-- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying Mechatronic with static discharge.

  • Do not touch contacts in the Mechatronic connector with hands.

-- To discharge any static electricity, touch vehicle ground with hand (without wearing a glove).

-- Release the connector twist lock for the Mechatronic -1- by turning it in the direction of the starter -arrow- and remove it.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500  under the transmission.

-- Remove the clamp -3-.

-- Loosen and remove the screws -1- in a diagonal sequence.

-- Remove the oil pan -2- and if necessary loosen the oil pan by hitting lightly with a rubber hammer.
