12V Engine Compartment Battery, Checking Battery Terminal Clamp For Secure Seating

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Torque Wrench

NOTE:

Tight battery terminal clamps assure trouble-free battery function and long service life.

Make sure the terminal clamp is attached completely to the battery terminal.

CAUTION:

The battery clamp on positive terminal is not seated securely.

Short circuit or sparks possible.

- Always disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery negative terminal first.

-- Open the cover on the heat shield boot -4-.

-- Check the battery -3- for a secure fit and retighten the bolt -2- to the tightening specification if necessary. Refer to OVERVIEW - BATTERY .

-- Open the cover -4- over the battery negative terminal.

-- Check the battery terminal clamps -1- and -3- for a secure fit and retighten the nuts if necessary. Refer to OVERVIEW - BATTERY .

After connecting the battery, perform the following:
