Selector Mechanism With Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Do not lubricate the selector lever cable.

After installation the selector mechanism, the selector lever cable must be checked for ease of movement and adjusted.

-- Insert the selector lever cable -1- in the cable bracket -4- and install a new lock washer -3-.

-- Press the selector lever cable -1- carefully onto the selector lever -2-.

If removed, install the cable bracket -4- with the bolts -5- on the transmission.

-- Engage the selector lever cable -1- into the clip -2-.

-- Install the center tunnel heat shield under the selector mechanism. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- Install the air duct in the center console. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR ROUTING AND AIR DISTRIBUTION IN VEHICLE INTERIOR .

-- Install the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the selector lever handle. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 4 CYL or AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 6 CYL .
