Windshield, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the left and right A-pillar upper trim panel. Refer to A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left and right sun visors. Refer to SUN VISOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the interior rearview mirror. Refer to INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- For vehicles with a Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242-, remove the front camera. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Lower the headliner near the windshield. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- The headliner can now be lowered far enough so that the windshield can be cut out without damaging the headliner.
-- Remove the drip rail. Refer to DRIP RAIL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with Windshield Defogger
-- Remove the nut -6-.
-- Secure the cable -5- in the window glass.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 3-.
-- Secure the cable -2 and 4- on the window glass.
All Vehicles
-- Install the protective backing between the windshield and the instrument panel.
-- Push the Awl -1- outward from the inside -direction of arrow A- through the adhesive sealant.
-- Pull one end of the cutting wire -2- using the Awl -1- toward the vehicle interior -direction of arrow B-.
-- Secure the Reel Device -1- on the inside of the windshield at "position a".
-- Secure the end of the cutting wire -2- to the Reel Device -1-.
-- Place the cutting wire -1- around the windshield -direction of the arrow-.
-- Secure the second end of the cutting wire -2- to the windshield wiper frame -3-.
-- Cut out the windshield up to "position a".
-- To cut out the windshield, reposition the Reel Device -1- in succession at "position b", "position c" and "position d".
-- Loosen the Reel Device -1- from the windshield.
-- Lift the windshield out of the vehicle using two Double Suction Lifters :VAG1344 .
