Seals For ATF Cooler, Replacing: Removing
-- Remove the air filter housing with the air duct hose. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the battery and the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the bolts -2-.
-- Remove the drive axle heat shield -1- in the direction of -arrow-.
Vehicles with Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-
-- Unclip the connector -2- from the bracket -1-.
-- Loosen the bolt -1- and remove the bolt -2-.
The bracket with coolant line -3- are tied upward later.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Tie up the coolant line -1- upward to get better accessibility to the ATF cooler -2-.
-- Thoroughly clean the area around the ATF cooler -2-.
Dirt and foreign objects must not enter the ATF system.
Always follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
The area around the ATF cooler must be free of dirt and foreign objects.
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit :SMN372500 under the transmission.
-- Loosen the bolt -1- for the ATF cooler -2- from above.
The bolt -1- is only removed a few turns and remains in the transmission.
-- Remove the bolts -1- from below.
-- Replace the ATF cooler -2- with the coolant lines connected, and remove rearward in the direction of -arrow-.
-- Remove the seals from the ATF cooler and thoroughly clean the sealing surface of the ATF cooler.
