Shift Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the center console. Refer to OVERVIEW - CENTER CONSOLE .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the cable retainer -1- from the selector lever using the Pry Lever: 80 - 200  .

-- Remove the bolts -2- from the cable bracket -3-.

-- Remove the center tunnel heat shield under the selector mechanism. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- To prevent the selector mechanism from falling after removing the four nuts, tighten the front tunnel brace -1- with 2 bolts -2- on the body hand-tight. Then the selector mechanism can be placed on it.

-- Remove the insulation mat if equipped from the selector mechanism.

-- Loosen all nuts -arrows- in the vehicle interior and completely remove the three nuts.

-- Hold the selector mechanism with a hand on the emergency release -1- in the installation position and remove the last nut.

-- Carefully remove the selector mechanism from the tunnel brace underneath.

The selector mechanism can now be removed downward.
